Prayer is nowhere near as complicated
As some of God’s people have oft propagated.
Stand up, kneel down, be quiet, no, get animated
The subject of prayer seems to be always debated.
Many books on prayer are in the Christian bookstore
Before you get there, there’ll probably more.
All written by well meaning writers who have a plan
That tries to explain how God will listen to man.
It has been said and I believe that it’s true
That is why I am saying these things to you.
That too much scrutiny and over analysis
Causes one to falter with spiritual paralysis
Prayer is simply talking to our Father above,
Who has always cared for you with divine love.
Honestly speaking as you would with a friend.
He will always listen, on that you can depend.
Don’t forget prayer is a two-way street
And for your prayer to be complete
You must listen for His gentle voice too
As you read His Word, He’ll talk to you.
As He speaks to your heart and mind.
Many of life’s hard answers you will find.
So relax my friend, prayer is not so odd
You just open your heart and talk to God.
